16.07.10（Friday） - I am very glad to go to watch gezaixi today. Today performance by Taiwan 羅育忠 and his sister, 羅文惜 are very good. In fact, I had watched their performance before and I love 羅育忠 performance. I had plan to forgo getai tml and continued to watch his performance tml...






China Puppet performance at 韭菜芭城隍庙

戏名：陈三五娘


林大鼻was to be the husband of 五娘




元宵节之夜, 陈伯卿 or most commonly called 陈三 by his friends as he was the third child of the family meet 五娘 and her maid,益春.Both 陈三 and 五娘 liked each other at first sight (Chen san is Taiwan 羅育忠)

荔镜记

荔镜记 are another name for this story 陈三五娘 as Both Lychee and mirror played an equal important role to match the two couple together.



五娘 and her maid,益春 (Both are from Taiwan -五娘 is Taiwan 羅文惜


Wu Niang and Yi Chun were enjoying lychees in the tower. The maid opened the window for her missy to view the town area when 陈三passed by the window area




益春 tossed a lychee wrapped in 五娘 handkerchief as a token of love(定情之物） by 五娘 to 陈三.




In order to enter Wu Niang Family, Chen San decided to ask a master to teach him how to polish mirror. Chen San begged his master to let him go to Wu Niang house to polish mirror

Wu Niang asked 益春 to ask the mirror master to enter the house



Wu Niang was shocked to see the handsome Chen San again. In order to stay closer to Wu Niang, Chen san purposely broken the mirror


Wu Niang's dad was furious. Wu Niang and Yi Chun begged for his pardon.


Chen San was make to work as a servant in Wu Niang's house for 3 full years


2 Years had passed. One day, Chen San requested Yi Chun to pass him the water meant for Wu Niang. Chen San entered Wu Niang's room. They were about to do something when Yi Chun broke their thought up. Wu Niang was angry and scolded Chen San to leave the house. Chen San was heart-broken and decided to leave


Yi Chun chased Chen San and asked him to stay. Yi Chun expressed her love for Chen San and was willing to be his second wife. Chen San accepted Yi Chun's love too


Wu Niang regretted her harsh word for Chen San


Chen San came back and told Wu Niang that he is going to marry Yi Chun as well。 Both sleep together in the bed.



Yi Chun and Wu Niang decided to play a prank on Chen San by being jealous


Words leaked that Lim will come to marry wu niang on mid-autumn. So Chen San decided to bring Wu Niang and Yi Chun to elope together. They are stopped by Wu Niang's dad whom bring Chen San to the magistrate.


The officer beat Chen San and throw him back into jail when an higher officer arrived. This higher rank officer was actually Chen San's elder brother


Chen San's brother helped to resolve the wrong mismatch marriage.


Lim will marry Wu Niang's younger sister, 六娘. Happy ending for both couples

GezaiXi @ Cheng Huang Temple,Singapore 新赛风 - 戏名：喜脉缘，10.07.10 农历5月29日

10.07.10 (Sat), Today mum had asked whether i wanted to go to Cheng Huang Temple as today opera 谢戏人 was Dad's boss - dad boss with his two other friend had paid for today opera. I usually dislike watching Singapore Opera. Although performance are good, unfortunable, the ages of the characters are hard to deceive when they acted as someone that is age 18. It is esp hard for me to accept seeing a 70s woman as a 18 year old xiaosheng. But since Singapore Opera is already a half dying culture, i cannot 'complaint' much...Today Singapore troupe 新赛风 had 90 years of history but with no younger generation willing to carry on the blood of the opera, this future of this troupe does not look good.


But other than the casts that are mostly old, the plot of today story is very good.


喜脉缘 - The plot is simple yet sweet ending. A princess was saved by a physician when she was injured and seperated from her father, the emperor. By stroke of fate, the physician saved the emperor whom in turn become the matchmaker of the princess and the physician, not knowing the princess (or the wife) was his daughter. The princess was eventually found and forced to go back to the palace. She become Pregnant. The Physican become the scholar after some hard work and also entered the palace. The palace physician diagnosed the princess to be with child but was afraid to inform the emperor. In the end, the scholar (the princess husband) told the emperor. Not knowing that the scholar was the princess husband, the emperor ordered his death. The princess told her dad that she was with child and the angry emperor order her death too. Luckily the palace pysican and his wife saved the princess. The scholar was saved by a medical book he gave to the princess when out of guilt, the emperor decided to question him more abt the princess. The truth was found. The princess and her husband reunited.

Getai Performance @ Blk 603 AMK, 09.07.10 农历5月28日, Event: 万礼显灵宫, Host: Hao Hao, Band:新旅者 - 丽星舞台秀

09.07.10 农历5月28日 (FRI) - I was worried that today i would not be able to find a good location like yesterday. But as there are a few getais today - one at yishun, one at Cheng Huang Temple, the crowd today at AMK are not a lot. I am able to secure a good position quite near to the main stage. Quite happy with my location as this meant taking photos and videos is a breeze.

I had arrived early today at around 8 where the first singer had already left. Hao Hao had rushed back to host today getai after singing at the Yishun getai at 7 pm. By the time Hao Hao was back in AMK, it was near 7.45-8pm, i am not sure what time he arrived or whether he did sing any song when he arrived at AMK getai. But heard him mentioned he was singing at Yishun today also.

Heard that Hao Hao will be leaving to his homeland tml, 10.07.10 and will only be back in singapore 10 days later - so that meant i will not be able to hear him host nor sing these two weeks. I am quite glad i come today because finally get to see Hao Hao again. I had to admit i go to AMK because of the host.

明珠姐妹 - 新加坡的国宝, 新加坡的骄傲.新加坡的国宝 is not Sun Yanzi nor JJ but is 明珠姐妹. They are the only one that still choose to perform in singapore for so many years unlike the younger singers that choose to develop in Taiwan instead. After Aug, MingZhu Jie Mei will be history as elder sister Sandy will be going back to HK. Quite a pity..coz they really sing well as a pair. Only Zhu Li Li will continue to sing atfter her sister leave Singapore

Zhen Ni - I had been very 'good' to 'listen' to Hao Hao to hear Zhen Ni completed her two songs before i leave the area. Quite true when Hao Hao said usually the last singer will have a lot of stress as ppl will usually start to leave the area

Getai Performance @ Blk 603 AMK, 08.07.10 农历5月27日, Event: 万礼显灵宫, Host: Liu Ling Ling, Band: Feng Yun

08.07.10 农历5月27日 (Thur), Today Went to Blk 603 AMK. The getai area was real cramped althought there are plenty of empty chairs. But empty chairs without empty slot to place your chairs are equal to white elephants. There are really limited space for chairs. Now i do know why there are so many people standing. Even though i managed to get a chair, i was half blocked. Unless you arrived early, you can hardly find a good position. I think the stage is wrongly positioned.. or there is no more space to place the stage placing outward instead of inward like today.

If a stage is placed outward - meaning very far from the temple area,the whole space become a circle, audience will have enough space to view from all angle. If a stage is place inward, the whole space is like a rectangular, limited space to see. By saying a stage is place inward, i meant there is temple area very near the getai stage like eg today, the temple area was right in front of the stage with limited space in between the two area.

07/07/2010 农历5月26日 （Wed), Today we went to AMK Blk 163. i wished i am early today as my idol Hao Hao was singing his second song when i arrived. I only managed to take a video of his last song. But never mind, i got lot of chance to hear him sing. Quite lucky that mum managed to find seats for both of us when we arrived at nearly 9 pm.

Not much singers actually. Bao En was singing too many songs today, i think there are limited number of singers arranged to sing today.
