07/11/2009 (Sat) 农历9月21日: Today we went to watch getai. It was an unplanned outing as i initally thought that mum would like to watch Gezaixi. I had thought that it will be a far journey. Surprisely, the journey itself is not that far, we just need to take Bus 76 and transfer bus at Paya Lebar (the stop before cheng huang temple) to take either bus 66, 8 or 22. We alighted at the stop in front of blk 133.
Mum's old neighbour were there also, she is very nice to find two chairs for mum and Me. Shortly after i sat down, a fight occurred behind me. Apparently, the old uncle was unhappy with the young uncle for stopping his view, they pushed each other behind my back. mum pushed me to the back behind her. Luckily nothing serious occured after the organiser came to resolve the issue. Watch getai still wan to fight, very barbarian behaviour.
As today is an unplanned trip, we arrived at the area at around 8.30pm. Today getai is for "Golden age Celeberation Night" where there are a dinner function going on. Host 王雷 is as usual very funny as i mentioned before but must mentioned time and time again, it is a joy to have him as a host. Today singers are 陈凯晴, 林晓婷, 麦卉,方芳, 庄清玉, 廖文凯。 Today guest of honour is Mr Zainul Abidin Rasheed, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
First time heard 廖文凯 sing. He is also one of Wang Lei student, he is under Wang for 9 months. Wang Lei had spoke a bit about 廖文凯 history. He is only 9 this year, he used to skip school to watch getai till his mum spoke to Wang whom then advised 文凯 to attend lesson. Meanwhile Wang had taught 文凯 how to sing. 文凯 was missing from getai for a short while as he is having exams, Wang do not want him to neglect his exam, his results are not too bad - Math and Chinese all score above 90 m but for English, he failed at 24m but he is improving when he's willing to attend lesson. Find that Wang is really a good teacher that is willing to pass his skill to his students like Zhen Ying Ying, Tan Kai Qing and 文凯. In fact, most 'junior singers' esp Hao Hao show a great deal of respect to Wang.
BTW, if anyone of you are familiar with facebook, Wang best pal Zhong Yao Nan now had a facebook account. Wang had said that Ah Nan daughter had opened a account for her dad yesterday. Beside blogging, i also love facebook esp when i meet ppl with similar interest group like getai or cats. It is also from facebook that i get to know the location of getai.
方芳 From Malaysia. Her imitation of Yao Su Rong is very close to real singer.
