14/02/2010: Super in love with gezaixi again after watching 一心歌仔戏 today. Today story is actually 宝莲灯 but the troupe had changed the name of this opera to 花山救母. I think i am skipping getai during CNY to watch 歌仔戏 during the CNY session as this opera troupe will only be in Singapore till the 14th day of CNY. It is a pity to miss this good performance by Taiwan troupe.
The 小生 is 孙诗佩， 花旦 is 孙丽惠. The other 小生 is 孙诗咏. All three are actually sisters. Their dad is the troupe leader and he is in today performance as well. Normally for Opera troupe, the skills are passed down generation by gerneration. Sadly for singapore case, most troupe close down after the youngsters refused to take over the business. For Taiwan, there are lot of opera schools to train youngsters so therefore, the interest as well are stronger.
Today we had free entry to watch gezaixi, really great performance...

Story Line:
仙女围舞
三圣母 or 华山圣母 live in the mountain of 华山. She is actually the younger sister of 二郎神.
One day, 三圣母 met 刘彦昌. Both Fall in love at first sight. 三圣母 decided to leave the moutain to be with 刘彦昌.
Meanwhile 二郎神 was furious when he learnt the truth about his own sister leaving the mountain with her new lover.
As 天上一天， 凡间十年, by the time, 二郎神 knew the truth, 三圣母 had already gave birth to a son called 沉香.
刘彦昌 did not know his wife is a fairy till 二郎神 came to find them. In order to save her husband and her baby, she gave her husband the treasure 宝莲灯. 三圣母 was captured and trapped within the mountain of 华山
12 year passed, 刘彦昌 married a second wife, 桂英 whom also gave birth to a son, 秋儿。One day, 沉香 killed the senior minster son by mistake. By the time the two brothers went home, 刘彦昌 had already knew the truth as the minister had ordered him to surrender his son.
Kind hearted 桂英 decided to let her own son die in replace of 沉香 as she wanted to save the only blood of the fairy. 刘彦昌 then told 沉香 his birth story.
His father gave his son Bao Lian Deng. 沉香 is extremely sad and dream that he had meet his birth mum in his dream
When the minister came, 沉香 decided to own up and was beaten to death on the spot.
A immoral revivied 沉香 spirit and informed him that he will used 莲藕 to make 沉香 returned to life.
沉香 returned to life with magical power.
沉香 decided to go to rescus his birth mum and were stopped by 二郎神 and his troupes.
In the end, the jade emperor decided to let 三圣母 go. Both mum and child were together for the first time.
