23/10/2009 (Thur) 农历9月6日: Just returned from watching getai at the Yishun Ring Road. Today is my first time been to the Yishun ring area. We took almost 1hour and 30 min to reach the temple area with 30 min allocation for waiting bus 812. Really hated waiting for bus, used to wait for bus 73 for work till i changed job to a nearby area within walking distance near my house. By the time we reached the area, half the performance were already gone. We reached the area at around 850pm. The getai started at 6pm.
I am not really familiar with today singers. Just know today singers included Wang ShanShan, Lu Weilun, Lim Xiao Ting, Kai Li. Today getai is in celebration of 井水港之夜 for 斗母宫凤山寺 for the Nine Emperor Gods Festival. There will be 2 other getai at Upper Serangoon 斗母宫 next week on 27 and 29 of October. The temple at Yishun Ring had getai for a whole 9 days starting from 19/10 to 26/10. The temple is reallly grand.
